![]() Scabby Monkies was an outsourced episodic animation project produced by the Academy of Art University and directed by Nicholas Weigel. I contributed character concepts and more technical artworks such as “turnarounds” and “shader packs”. These would eventually go on to be used in the production of the animation as well as the creation of collectible plush toys.
The most difficult aspect of the project was keeping to Nicholas' strict style guidelines. Though he provided a few basic sketches describing his characters, the methods in which I explored them didn't always turn out the most accurate results. In retrospect, if I was aware of the various techniques used to produce the particular results he was looking for, I'm certain I would have been able to work more efficiently. Its also because of this project I became more comfortable exploring different styles and aware of the traits that make my artwork unique in style. This has led to me being conscious of my own pit falls, ensuring I am always delivering art in-line with my client's taste and not necessarily my own. |
